Using state-of-the-art equipment, a group of activists, including renowned former dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry, filmmaker Louie Psihoyos, and expedition director Simon Hutchins infiltrate a cove near Taijii, Japan to expose both a shocking instance of animal abuse and a serious threat to human health. Collaborating under the auspices of the Ocean Preservation Society, this team of marine specialists, underwater sound and camera experts, special effects artists, and world-class free divers carry out an undercover operation to photograph the off-limits cove, while eluding those who would have them jailed. The result is a provocative mix of investigative journalism, eco-adventure and arresting imagery that adds up to an urgent plea for intervention.
Sponsored by the Carsey-Wolfe Center for Film, Television and New Media, the Dept. of Film and Media Studies, and the IHC’s Oil + Water series.
